Insurgent: POWER VS POWER

     In the book Insurgent by Veronica Roth, many different groups or individuals are in disagreements over who has power. There are the ones with lots of power such as high-class people like Jeanine or people who have almost no power such as the factionless. Although different groups struggle over who has most power, all of the groups need each other to function properly as part of society.

     In the book each faction needs the other ones to help each other make progress. One example is on page 200, Tris says, "she knows that would be illogical. Without each faction, society doesn't function, because each faction trains its members for particular jobs. What she wants is control." although Jeanine wants power over all the other factions she cannot destroy that because she needs their particular skills, her faction is Erudite, so they have knowledge but she needs combat from Daunttless, resources from Abnegation and Amity who keeps peace. Clearly the factions need one another no matter how powerful they are, the Erudite  cannot stand on their own because they have only knowledge. Also in the book different factions team up together because they each have skills that the other needs. For example, Erudite teams up with Dauntless traitors, Erudite have the skills and Dauntless have the force and power to fight. Obviously, Erudite had to become allies with Dauntless traitors if they wanted to have controls over the others factions, without them they would be weak and defenseless. 

     Finally you can see that no matter how strong one group may seem they are powerless without another group to help them. This shows an important idea of how vital teamwork is, each group needs the skills of the other to become stronger. This relates to current society because many groups try to use their class over others, but they don't have power because everyone is equal, no matter how much money you have or where you are from. Everyone has skills/values that another group will need.
